1)Open the file in Excel
2)Your sheets (product cost and recipes) are at the bottle of the file.
3)The first sheet is your Product cost. I entered in each ingredient used in our Recipe eBook with the unit. You need to enter in your COST PER UNIT. To get your cost per unit, Take the COST and DIVIDE by the number of UNITS.
COST PER UNIT is the same as, COST DIVIDED BY UNIT(usually LB). Example. You paid $40(cost) for 60lbs(unit) of apple. Cost per unit = $40 divided by 60 = $.66 for 1lb of apples. Enter in $.66 in the "cost" section for apples. Do this for all your ingredients.
4) You can add more ingredients by typing the name, unit, and price.
5) On the bottom, next to "Product Cost" you will see "Strong Green" followed by many other recipes. This is our menu from the Recipe ebook. If you click on Strong Green, you will see green and white cells. IMPORTANT enter information only in white cells. The other cells have formulas and will calculate automatically. You will list the ingredients and number of units used in that specific recipe in the white cell. This ingredient and quantity list is tied to the "product cost" sheet and has to be spelled the exact same or it will not recognize the ingredient. Under "item description" for Strong Green, the recipe entered yields 60 oz. Therefore "menu price" is what we charge for 60 oz of Strong Green. You can adjust menu price, quantities, and ingredients to match your menu. Once all information is entered the formula will show your total cost, gross profit, and food cost %.
6) If you have our Recipe eBook, simply reference that book for the "quantity" amounts. We did the first 3 recipes as examples.
7) IMPORTANT: to add a new recipe you must right click/double click on a current recipe tab at the bottom of the file (for example Strong Green) then choose: "move or copy" then check box "create a copy". This will create a copy of the formula used in that sheet and will make a new recipe tab. You can then edit that new tab however you'd like. You can add as many new tab recipes as you'd like. You can also delete current ones in the file that you're not using.
